Winthrop University has partnered with RaiseMe to offer micro-scholarships that recognize your achievements and allow you to start earning money for college beginning in the 9th grade.
Who can use RaiseMe?
At this time, high school students (in-state and out-of-state) who are in grades
9, 10, 11 or 12 and attend high school in the United States, who plan to attend Winthrop
University as a first-time freshman can use RaiseMe. Students currently attending
Winthrop, or readmitting to Winthrop, are not eligible for RaiseMe scholarships. You
must be in high school to earn the scholarship and be entering Winthrop as a first-time
freshmen for the upcoming fall semester to use the scholarship.
Is RaiseMe free?
Yes! RaiseMe is entirely free for high school students. The cost of the program is
paid by charitable foundations, colleges, and other fund providers. Sign up and create an account now.
Are the RaiseMe scholarships in addition to other scholarships from Winthrop University?
The final total of scholarships earned on RaiseMe represent a guaranteed minimum
amount of scholarship/grant aid you will receive to attend Winthrop University. If
you receive a larger scholarship based on other factors (examples include, but are
not limited to, Winthrop Admission Award, Winthrop Athletic Scholarship, Winthrop
VPA Talent Award), then that package will replace, but not combine with, the amount
you have earned on RaiseMe.
What are the minimum requirements to earn micro-scholarships from RaiseMe?
You must earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 and at least 15 credits.
Is there a deadline?
Yes! In addition to any deadlines posted within RaiseMe, incoming freshmen must have
a completed Admission application with Winthrop prior to February 1st.
How do I get started?
Begin by creating an account on RaiseMe. Once the account is established, you should follow Winthrop University and add achievements
such as grades, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions to your portfolio.
How often should I add achievements to my portfolio?
You should add achievements as frequently as you can throughout high school. Adding
achievements increases your eligibility for earning scholarships from Winthrop University.
I'm in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. Can I get scholarship money for things I achieved earlier in high school?
Yes! You can fill in your high school portfolio retroactively with achievements going
back to the start of the 9th grade. The more complete your portfolio is, the more opportunities you have to earn
micro-scholarships.
Can I use the RaiseMe scholarships I earn for Winthrop University to pay the cost
of attending another institution?
No! Micro-scholarships are not transferable between institutions. You can only use
the scholarships you earn from Winthrop University for the cost of attending Winthrop
University.
