Winthrop is proud to be the home of one of the fastest-growing, winningest esports programs in the country. Established in 2019, our program was one of the first varsity esports programs in Division I athletics, and has since burst onto the scene, winning two national championships within the first 18 months.
As Winthrop continues to be a major force in the sport, we are expanding our program to include JV and club divisions, providing an inclusive environment for gamers of all levels of experience and interest. Here, our esports athletes pursue their passion for gaming all while earning a world-class education, as Winthrop is the #5 public university in the south according to US News & World Report.
