Build New Paths Together

Winthrop is devoted to diversity and inclusion through its

  • diverse student body—approximately 47% of Winthrop students are from racial and ethnic minority groups
  • multicultural organizations where students can celebrate and learn about different cultures while connecting with their peers
  • workshops designed to cultivate a more educated, empathetic and supportive community of allies
  • resources to help students succeed in college while being their most authentic selves

Students are encouraged to get involved in celebrating diversity on campus through spreading awareness of their own lived experiences, learning about the culture of others, and participating in events and workshops centered on diversity education and embracing different perspectives.

How Does Winthrop Support Equity?

Winthrop strives to foster an environment where students feel free to be themselves and grow their own unique communities by hosting diversity dialogues and town halls; providing resources to educate allies and the overall community on topics related to racism, LGBTQIA+ issues and accessibility; providing support services for international, first generation and marginalized student groups; and empowering students to declare their preferred name, gender identification and pronouns.
