Winthrop University: Academic Affairs

Adrienne McCormick

Division of Academic Affairs

Welcome from the Provost

Winthrop University students learn to be critical thinkers, informed citizens, and collaborative problem-solvers prepared for the diverse environments in which they live, work, and create.  To support this learning, the Division of Academic Affairs provides a distinctive general education core, recognized by the Foundation for Critical Thinking; over 40 constantly-- evolving undergraduate degree programs; 40 graduate programs and certificates; and an array of co-curricular experiences that prepare culturally competent graduates to thrive in the communities and career paths of tomorrow.  Our learning eco-system comprises the Dacus Library, the Graduate School, and the following five colleges:

Winthrop’s colleges are known for providing national-caliber, accredited degree programs, while University College serves all Winthrop students. We implement a high-impact student services model and embrace inclusive excellence. Our results are evident in recognition by Education Trust for closing achievement gaps and continually working to ensure equity in student success; designation as a Voter-Friendly Campus; Purple Heart University designation; growth of programs serving adults in our community; and Think College, a unique program for students with disabilities. At Winthrop, we raise the bar on what it means to be a student-ready campus!

As a public, comprehensive university, we partner with numerous entities – from near neighbors in the growing city of Rock Hill, South Carolina to the City of Liuzhou, in Guangxi Province, China. Our graduates leave Winthrop future-ready, and the communities we serve thrive as much as our students do. Join us on our exciting path forward!
