The scholarships listed below will be awarded to students who enroll as a new freshman or transfer for the stated semester. Scholarship values and minimum criteria for subsequent years may be revised upon the discretion of the University.

Scholarships by College or Department
Entering first-time freshmen who are accepted to Winthrop University will be considered for a merit scholarship. Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions. No separate scholarship application is required. Contact the Office of Admissions with questions regarding scholarship eligibility.
Eligibility for scholarships:
Scholarships are renewable for up to three (3) additional years of undergraduate study as long as student maintains financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress and has not earned his/her undergraduate degree.
Financial aid received from all sources cannot exceed the Cost of Attendance at Winthrop University. The Office of Financial Aid reserves the right to adjust the value of scholarships as deemed necessary to comply with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
Scholarship Notification
Students who submit their completed admission application by late January 2020 and are admitted to Winthrop University, will be notified about their scholarship eligibility on an ongoing basis.

This scholarship is awarded in addition to one of the Winthrop scholarships listed above. Awarded to students who completed the Palmetto Boys State or Palmetto Girls State program as a rising high school senior and who are listed as a participant by the program.
Students selected for a scholarship will be awarded ONE of the scholarships listed below.

Winthrop Scholarship - The 2020-2021 application deadline has passed. The 2021-2022 application will be available
in Spring 2021.
Scholarship support is awarded to continuing Winthrop students on the basis of their academic achievement at the University and/or participation in extracurricular activities. High-achieving students, seeking their first undergraduate degree, who have a minimum 3.8 Winthrop cumulative GPA after the fall term are invited to submit an application for scholarships to the Office of Financial Aid in late February of each year. The Scholarship Committee will review the applications and make awards for the following academic year. For additional information, you may contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Children of Faculty and Staff Scholarship - The 2020-2021 application deadline has passed. The 2021-2022 application will be available
in Spring 2021.
Scholarships funded by the generous contributions of Winthrop University faculty and staff are available to qualifying children of full-time faculty and staff members at Winthrop University. Applications are usually available in late February of each year. Students must be seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree and intend to enroll full-time in the fall term. Recipients of this scholarship must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative Winthrop GPA from the previous academic year, to be considered for the scholarship for the following academic year. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by Winthrop's Scholarship Committee and awarded by mid-June. For additional information, you may contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Scholarships by College or Department
NOTE: Some students receive scholarships and grants from sources other than Winthrop University. The Office of Financial Aid reserves the right to adjust the amount of Winthrop University scholarships for students whose total aid would exceed the estimated cost of attendance.
