Women's Flag Football

Winthrop University is proud to announce the launch of Women's Flag Football beginning in Fall 2026. As one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and an emerging collegiate sport across the country, Winthrop is excited to build a fun, competitive, and inclusive program that will represent the University on a rapidly expanding stage.

Whether you are an experienced athlete or new to the sport, this team will provide opportunities to develop skills, build lasting friendships, and compete against other collegiate programs. Student-athletes will have the chance to be part of something special by helping establish the foundation, traditions, and culture of Winthrop's inaugural team.

The team will be led by Head Coach Reggie Cespedes, who brings a proven track record, competitive spirit, and passion for athlete development.

As women's flag football continues to gain national recognition, including its upcoming debut at the 2028 LA Olympic Games, Winthrop is excited to invest in the future of this dynamic sport and provide students with the opportunity to compete at a high level while creating unforgettable experiences.
