Calling All Model UN Alumni! Please join us for this year's 50th Anniversary Model United Nations Conference at Winthrop University! Model UN encourages students to engage in public speaking, diplomacy, professionalism, and achieve a compromise, leading to the crafting of innovative resolutions to tackle international problems. This year, we will be hosting a special 50th Anniversary Reception on Thursday, March 26 from 7-10 p.m. in the Evans Room, located on the 3rd floor of the DiGiorgio Campus Center, to celebrate the legacy of this transformative program, and work to endow a scholarship in the name of 24-year Director Dr. Chris Van Aller the way we have one in honor of our program founder, Dr. Melford Wilson, Jr. Come back early on Thursday to tour the Third Committee Session (4:30-6:00pm) and stop by Slow Play before the 7:00pm evening reception to see your favorite Model UN colleagues! We hope to see ALL of you back for WUMUN 50!

Over the past five decades, Model UN conferences have helped students develop public speaking, writing, and research skills. They often provide students with their first entry point into global literacy, international affairs, and concepts, including peace and security, human rights, development, and rule of law issues. By learning about the UN as an institution, its role in world affairs, and the diplomacy involved in UN decisions, students also learn the importance of seeing matters from another country’s perspective.
Join us in fostering global literacy and leadership skills among students by sponsoring the Winthrop University Model United Nations Program.
