Winthrop University Foundation

A letter from the Winthrop University Foundation President Robert H. Breakfield:

Welcome to the Winthrop University Foundation website. I am proud to be part of the Foundation Board that has established an endowment that exceeds $60,000,000.

Since its creation in 1973 as a 501 (c)(3), a non-profit corporation, the Winthrop University Foundation, Inc. has been entrusted with gifts of cash, real estate and securities. Donations include over 400 endowed funds, along with the Winthrop Fund, our annual fund that has become the life blood of Winthrop's effort to attract promising students.

In an effort to establish continuing support and an annual base of funding for the Winthrop Fund, the Eagle Club and our University colleges, the Foundation established the Winthrop Leadership Society in the fall of 2017. The Winthrop Leadership Society now has over 120 members with five-year pledges exceeding $1,500,000.

We encourage you to join our efforts to make the Winthrop University experience a vibrant and exciting educational forum for our students, faculty, alumni, and friends.

Please consider giving to Winthrop University.

Bob Breakfield

WUF President 2019-2020

Mission Statement

The current mission of the Foundation, which is governed by a volunteer board, is to support and enhance Winthrop University by encouraging alumni and friends to provide private funds and other resources for the University's benefit, to manage those assets, and to provide volunteer leadership in support of the University's objectives.
