The College of Visual and Performing Arts at Winthrop University offers nationally accredited programs in art, design, theatre, dance, and music, and provides academically challenging instruction in an interdisciplinary environment that inspires and prepares the next generation of artists, educators, scholars, and audiences. We promote intellectual inquiry and collaborative opportunities that encourage each student to develop a uniquely creative vision cultivated through artistry, teaching, scholarship, public performance, and community engagement.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts has been a central component of Winthrop’s commitment to the arts for well over a century. We are one of the few universities in the United States and the only public or private institution in South Carolina with all of its undergraduate and graduate programs nationally accredited.

With a continuously growing arts community in Rock Hill and our proximity to the metro Charlotte area, we purposefully build strong relationships with museums, galleries, dance companies, theatre organizations, orchestras, design firms and more. The facilities we provide on campus include advanced technology studios in all the arts, contemporary dance studios, traditional and experimental theatre spaces, an exceptional music conservatory, and studios in the diverse disciplines of the visual arts.

Planning to visit campus?

All motor vehicles parked on the campus or any property owned by Winthrop University, which are driven by faculty/staff or students must be registered with the Winthrop University Police Department and bear either a regular parking permit or a temporary parking permit. Visitors to Winthrop University that desire to park on university property for a limited time must register their vehicle with the Winthrop University Police Department. Temporary or Visitor parking permits can be obtained online either before or upon arriving on campus.
