Purpose of Organization: The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere
and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote
the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and
unity in action. Our mission is to enrich the lives of our initiated women, as well
as serve our campus and community. The bonds of sisterhood hold us together as we
live, learn, and lead at Winthrop University.
Description of Organization: Delta Zeta () is an international college sorority founded on October 24, 1902, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The women of Delta Zeta Sorority share a common purpose: to make life fuller, more meaningful, more rewarding. Our promise to our Sorority and our commitment to enrich the world are for a lifetime. Within Delta Zeta, we call it enriching. To our members, it is the promise of friendship, personal development and opportunity. To the campus community and the world, we are valued citizens deeply committed to making a difference where we live
Planned Projects/Events: Delta Zeta hosts many philanthropy events each semester including Big Man on Campus, Camp Out, Hike for Hearing, and Turtle Tug. All of the proceeds from these events go to the Painted Turtle Camp (a camp in California for chronically ill children), Gallaudet University (the world's only university with undergraduate programs accessible to hearing-impaired students), and the Starkey Hearing Foundation (a foundation that provides the gift of hearing to those in need around the world). Delta Zeta also plans sisterhood retreats and sisterhood events, mixers, fundraising events, formal, semi-formal, and spirit nights throughout the semester. They participate in a variety of service projects on a monthly basis, including Adopt-a-Highway."
