The Division of Student Affairs is integral to the academic mission of Winthrop University. Our primary responsibility is to connect students to success, help them to navigate transitions, and create and involve them in co-curricular experiences which complement their academic, professional, and personal growth and development. Ultimately, Student Affairs helps students to persist and thrive in their journey toward graduation and transformation.
Student Affairs professionals are educators who anticipate and respond to the developmental and emerging needs of students and inspire them to be life-long learners, engaged citizens and leaders. As educators, we partner with faculty to catalyze student learning. We achieve this by providing a comprehensive co-curricular experience that is foundational to classroom learning. We enhance campus life, establish a sense of community, promote school spirit, foster ethical development and advance wellness as a multi-dimensional aspect of living and learning.
We believe that students will better develop and discover themselves and their evolving capabilities through learning, experiential activities, and self-reflection. Thus, we encourage you to take full advantage of the Winthrop Experience while working to embrace the student government's Dedication for Excellence (pdf - 49 kb).
Be courageous.
