By accepting these Terms and Conditions, I hereby certify that I am meeting the following requirements:
I am a legal resident of the state of South Carolina, and I am a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident of the U.S.
I understand that more information about state awards, including renewal requirements, can be found at SC Scholarships. I understand that I must attend full-time (at least 12 credit hours) each term to receive my scholarship/grant. I understand that my financial aid awards from all sources cannot exceed my cost of attendance and if this occurs, the Office of Financial Aid may need to adjust my financial aid to adhere to federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
I affirm that I am presently not in default on any Federal or State student loans nor do I owe any refunds to any Federal or State financial aid programs.
HOPE/LIFE Recipients: I certify that I have presented to Winthrop University all official transcripts from all colleges I have attended, including colleges attended while enrolled in high school. I understand that if I take courses at other institutions after signing these Terms and Conditions, I will submit any additional transcripts to Winthrop. I understand that my LIFE GPA is calculated from all college coursework (excluding remedial), not just the courses taken at Winthrop.
Need-Based Grant Recipients: I certify that I have not received total Grant, including the current award in excess of $14,000 (not applicable to Winthrop Think College students). I understand this grant is not automatically renewed each year.
As a need-based grant and/or HOPE, LIFE, or Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipient, I certify that I have never been adjudicated delinquent, convicted or plead guilty or nolo contendere to any felonies or any second or subsequent alcohol/drug related misdemeanor offenses under the laws of this or any other state or under the laws of the United States (see note below if any convictions). If I am adjudicated delinquent or am convicted or plead guilty or nolo contendere to any felonies or any second alcohol or drug related misdemeanor offenses under the laws of this or any other state, I agree to notify the Office of Financial Aid immediately. I hereby give permission for the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) to conduct a background check to verify the above. I understand additional information may be requested if a background check is conducted.
I understand that any false information provided by me or any attempt to expend my scholarship funds for unlawful purposes or any purposes other than in payment or reimbursement for the cost of attendance at the institution authorized to award the scholarship and/or grant will be cause for immediate cancellation. I understand if I have obtained a scholarship through means of a willfully false statement or failure to reveal any material fact, condition, or circumstances affecting eligibility that I will be subject to applicable civil or criminal penalties, including retroactive loss of the scholarship and/or grant.
