Emergency Response Plans

Level 3: Disaster

A level three incident is a disaster affecting the entire campus' grounds and surrounding community. Regular university operations are suspended. The effects of the emergency are wide ranging and complex. A timely resolution of disaster conditions requires university-wide cooperation and extensive coordination with external jurisdictions. The Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) shall act to advise the president on university matters and manage the university's response.

Examples of level three incidents include:

  • major earthquake
  • fire that threatens an extensive area of the region
  • major criminal event involving possible loss of life
  • widespread nuclear, chemical, or biological agent contamination
  • hurricane or tornado with major damage to university, city, and county infrastructure
