Welcome to the Winthrop University Alumni to Student Mentor Program, I'm Ready! Our program is designed to create meaningful connections between our alumni and current Winthrop students, fostering a community of support and guidance. Through this initiative, we aim to pair dedicated alumni mentors with ambitious students, providing them with valuable insights and advice to navigate their academic and professional journeys successfully.
"Empowered by the I'm Ready - Alumni to Student Mentoring Program, I step into a world of possibilities guided by the wisdom of respected Winthrop University alumni. Four impactful sessions, countless insights - my journey is not just academic; it's a dynamic exploration nurtured by dedicated mentors. I'm Ready to thrive here at Winthrop and beyond!"
- Logan Pender, ’24, I'm Ready student mentee
The I'm Ready alumni to student mentor program is gearing up for an impactful second year, with
alumni mentor recruitment beginning in early August. Designed to foster meaningful
connections between our alumni and current students, I'm Ready goes beyond traditional mentoring models, offering a flexible and dynamic approach
with four (4) micro-mentoring sessions with two (2) sessions occurring each fall and
spring semester. These sessions are tailored to accommodate busy schedules while maximizing
the impact of mentorship. Each micro-mentoring session allows for focused discussions
on specific topics, including career exploration, skill development, networking strategies,
and personal growth.
The 2024 fall program kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 12! The first micro-session is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23 and will focus on mentoring
pair introductions and the student mentee completing a professional skills self-assessment.

Mentoring stands as a powerful bridge between the past and the future, benefiting
both Winthrop University alumni and students in profound ways. For alumni, mentoring
is an opportunity to give back and contribute to the growth of the next generation.
By sharing their experiences, knowledge, and insights, alumni mentors play a pivotal
role in shaping future leaders, fostering a legacy of excellence that endures beyond
their own journeys. For students, mentoring offers a direct path to navigating the
complexities of academia and career development. The guidance and support of alumni
mentors provide clarity, motivation, and a clearer understanding of their chosen paths.
Ultimately, mentoring bridges generational gaps, forges lifelong connections, and
nurtures a culture of reciprocity, where both mentors and mentees thrive through mutual
learning and shared success.

The Department of Institutional Effectiveness administers Winthrop University's Alumni
Survey every other summer, to alumni who were awarded baccalaureate or graduate degrees
one to two years prior. Survey questions are designed to gather alumni perceptions
related to their experiences while at Winthrop University as well as to gather information
about post-graduation outcomes.
