While Winthrop's campus is closed in compliance with state and national guidelines for COVID-19, our dedicated Admissions team is available to help you. How to Register for Orientation

Students

Students can register online. After you have successfully registered online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. 
To change your Orientation session, go back into the Orientation Registration System and follow the onscreen directions. Please note that any session change made after your reservation is processed will result in a $10.00 service fee for each change made. This fee is non-refundable.

Families

When your student registers for Orientation, he or she can register any family members wishing to attend Family Orientation. Family Orientation is offered with all Orientation sessions EXCEPT the half-day Orientation sessions.

 

Orientation Fees

Freshman Fee Information

A $145 Orientation fee will be charged to your account and is included in your fall semester tuition and fee bill.  (Please do not mail the fee payment in advance.)  This fee covers materials, programs, and services associated with Orientation, advising, and registration, as well as Welcome Week. Fees take at least 48 hours to appear on student accounts. In order to pay fees, please visit or contact the Cashier's Office.

Transfer Fee Information

A $50 Orientation fee will be charged to your account and is included in your fall semester tuition and fee bill.  (Please do not mail the fee payment in advance.)  This fee covers materials, programs, and services associated with Orientation, advising, and registration, as well as Welcome Week. Fees take at least 48 hours to appear on student accounts. In order to pay fees, please visit or contact the Cashier's Office.

Family Fee Information

When you register for Family Orientation, a separate fee will be charged to the student's account per family member. The Freshman Family Orientation fee is $15. The Transfer Family Orientation fee is $10 for adults.This fee covers cost of materials and lunch, among other services associated with Family Orientation.

NOTE: This fee is non-refundable unless you cancel by the deadline. Family Orientation fees will be charged to the STUDENT ACCOUNT. Please DO NOT send checks. Fees take at least 48 hours to appear on student accounts. In order to pay fees, please visit or contact the Cashier's Office.

Orientation Fee Refunds

Refunds will be given only to students and family members who cancel by the given deadline. Requests for refunds must be received in writing by the Office of New Student and Family Programs by the registration deadline for each session. No refunds will be granted after the deadline. If you wish to cancel your registration or no longer plan to attend Winthrop, please email NSFP at Orientation@winthrop.edu, and we will cancel your Orientation registration.

Please note: No refunds are issued for students who attend Orientation and then withdraw from Winthrop. In those cases, individuals are still held accountable for all Orientation fees.

 

International Students

International students should contact the International Center at 803/323-2133 regarding Orientation requirements and accommodations. 

Students or Guests with Disabilities

To request accessibility accommodations for Orientation, please complete this form, and we will work with you through your request. Please note that both Orientation and Family Orientation do involve a good bit of walking around campus. Winthrop University does not have wheelchairs, scooters, or other equipment available for rent, so please plan to bring or rent your own equipment for your visit, sufficient for your needs.
