2024 Homecoming T-shirt Design Contest

The Homecoming T-shirt Design Contest will open on Monday, April 1 and run through Friday, May 31, 2024. The official rules of the contest are listed below.

CONTEST DETAILS

The contest is open only to alumni of Winthrop University, with alumni being defined as anyone who was regularly enrolled at Winthrop for at least one year. The contest runs from April 1 to May 31, 2024. The winner will be chosen in June by members of the Alumni Executive Board and will be notified by phone or e-mail. The announcement will be posted on the alumni social media accounts, the Homecoming website, June Winthrop Insider and the Winthrop Magazine. Once agreed upon, the design will be printed on the t-shirt and available for purchase Aug. 1 - Oct. 11 to wear during Homecoming and Reunion weekend. All submissions will be kept by Winthrop University and may be used for future Homecomings. Winthrop University reserves the right to edit or modify the design and its position, if required to fit the T-shirt. Winthrop University reserves the right to not use any of the submitted T-shirt designs if in the opinion of the panel none of the proposed designs adequately reflects Winthrop University or is not of a sufficiently high level and quality of design.

 

ART SPECIFICATIONS

Must be an original design with no copyright infringements or violations.
Must be provided as vector art in .ai, .pdf, or .eps file format.
No Winthrop logos may be used in the design.
Text should include, but is not limited to, "Homecoming 2024"
Art must be limited to four spot colors, not including the shirt color, which will be garnet.
No close registration, must leave 1/8".
Design will be for the front of a short-sleeved t-shirt with approximate size of 10"x10."

HOW TO ENTER

E-mail original artwork to alumni@winthrop.edu, with your full name, including maiden name if applicable, Winthrop class year(s) and mailing address in the body of the e-mail. Limit of one submission per person.

OWNERSHIP

Winthrop University has exclusive rights to reproduce and use the entries. Entries become the property of Winthrop University and none will be returned, or acknowledged, except as provided herein. Submission of an entry grants Winthrop University and its agents an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license and right to publish, use, edit, adapt, modify and/or publicly perform the entry in any way, in commerce and in any and all media worldwide now known, or herein after developed, without limitation and without notice or consideration of the contestant. By submitting an entry, each contestant in the contest further agrees that his/her entry constitutes an assignment of all rights, including but not limited to intellectual property rights, and title in and to such entry and the photograph therein to Winthrop University. Winthrop may require contestants to execute documents to confirm this transfer of rights. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Upon submission you agree to forfeit any ownership and are prohibited from the independent reproduction or sale of any images. By virtue of a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license for the designs granted by all finalists chosen prior to the voting process, Winthrop University shall have the right to edit, adapt, print (as on apparel) and publish any or all of the designs deemed finalist, and may use them in any media and/or the promotion of Winthrop University without compensation to the contestant, his or her successors or assigns, or any other entity. Winthrop University maintains the rights to receive all proceeds from the sale of any merchandise using the submitted artwork, without fee or other form of compensation due at any time to the contestant. Designs will be credited to the artist on the Winthrop University website, social media platforms and in all promotions relevant to that product. In the event that ownership of any design submitted is challenged in any manner by any person, Winthrop University may disqualify that design and will discontinue its use.
