The Department of Social Work in pleased to particpate in the three-day Interdisciplinary Conference 2027, Migration in a Changing World: An Interdisciplinary Approach, to be held in February 2027.
This conference will bring together stuents, scholars, researchers, and professionals from a variety of disciplines to share innovative research, engage in meaningful discussions, and foster new collaborations. Through panel discussions, paper presentations, and poster sessions, particpants will explore migration in its many forms - from the migration of cells to the migration of cultures - and examine how fundamental concepts are transformed through movement and change.
Dr. Serena Parekh will deliver the keynote address on February, 25, 2027, titled: "No Way In: Ethics of Closing the Door on Refugees"
Dr. Parekh is a distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at Northeastern University. Her scholarship focuses on ethics, human rights, and refugee issues.

In the news, Dr. Kori Bloomquist was awarded the Thompson Scholar Award. The Thompson Scholar program is generated through Robert and Norma Thompson Endowment which provides awards to faculty members to work on projects that help students and the community. Dr. Kori Bloomquist has designed a Fostering Eagle Empowerment program to support former foster youth on campus.
