Temporary Employment - Retirement Information

All temporary employees must either select a retirement option or opt out. To do so, please follow the link provided in an e-mail you will receive from the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA). You have 30 days from the first date of your assignment to make your selection. Be aware that this e-mail may be sent to your SPAM/Junk folder. If you do not receive an e-mail by the time your assignment begins, please contact Tanya Pettus in the Human Resources office at pettust@winthrop.edu.

Please note:

  1. If you already are a retiree of the South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) or have money on account with SCRS, you must select a retirement option. (You cannot opt out.)
  2. If you fail to respond within the 30-day enrollment period, you automatically will default into the South Carolina Retirement Systems defined-benefit plan and the required amount (currently 9% of your gross pay) will be deducted each pay period.
