Furlough Information Regarding Regular FTE Employees Hired after September 1, 2020

2020-2021

Regular FTE Employees Hired after September 1, 2020

Newly hired regular (FTE) employees will be required to take furlough days based on the chart below.  The salary of regular (FTE) new hire employees will be reduced (prorated according to the hire date) in equal increments across the remaining pay periods in the fiscal year depending on the hire date and the regular pay dates for the employee’s job.

Newly hired regular (FTE) employees may elect a lump sum pay reduction by completing the Lump Sum Furlough Pay Reduction form no later than three days after the employee’s official start date in the FTE position.  The lump sum salary reduction requires that all furlough days be taken in consecutive work days and the employee's pay will be reduced according to the consecutive furlough days.

Newly hired regular (FTE) employees and supervisors should refer to the Furlough Plan and associated FAQs for additional specific information regarding how to schedule furlough days and other very important information. In order to allow a candidate for employment an opportunity to make an informed decision, hiring supervisors must discuss Winthrop's furlough plan and the number of furlough days a new employee will be required to take during the offer stage of the employment process.

The number of furlough days/work hours based on an employee’s 12 month appointment for permanent FTE employees are as follows:
