SC Education Career Fair

Winthrop University's annual SC Education Career Fair is for students and alumni interested in teaching or working for South Carolina school districts, private schools, or educational organizatons. Students and alumni are invited to network with employers and learn about career opportunities in the field of education.

Optional on-site interviews will be held in the afternoon from 1:30-4:30 p.m. for school districts that wish to conduct same-day interviews.

    Registration

    Student and alumni registration is in Handshake. Alumni can visit our Handshake page for instructions on how to log in.


    Time & Location

    The event is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Richardson Ballroom, located in the DiGiorgio Campus Center. Student and alumni check-in begins at 10:30 a.m.


    Dress Code

    Business casual or professional attire is required. Need something to wear? Visit the Career Closet during our drop-in hours or schedule an appointment.


    Resumes

    Students are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes. Need some help with your resume?

    • Schedule a virtual or in-person appointment.
    • Upload your resume to Handshake for feedback (go to Handshake > Profile > My documents)
    • Join us for our drop-in Resume & Mock Interview Day (TBD)

    On-Site Interviews

    On-site interviews will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Richardson Ballroom. View employers in Handshake and apply for jobs to be considered for an interview. On-the-spot interviews may also be offered during the fair.

    Registration

    Deadline: Employer registration closes on January 13 or once capacity is reached (space is limited).
    Fee:

    • Registration: $125.00 for 1-2 representatives
    • Additional Representative Fee: $25 per additional rep (maximum of 2 additional reps)
      • Standard Rate: $150 (includes up to 2 reps)
      • Government/Nonprofit Rate: $100 (includes up to 2 reps)
      • Additional Representative Fee: $25 per additional reps (maximum of 2 additional reps, for a total of 4 reps)

    The event is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Richardson Ballroom, located in the DiGiorgio Campus Center (see #16 on Campus Map).

    Parking

    Employer parking is available in Margaret Nance Parking Lot (see G on Campus Map) and in-between the West Center and McBryde Hall (see 14 and 15). Overflow parking is available in Johnson Parking Lot (see D) and Founders Parking Lot (gravel; see D). Visitor parking passes are not required for these designated areas. An officer will be stationed in the West Center parking area to assist with directions and drop-off location. Employers may unload heavy, bulky materials at the end of the Concourse while the driver moves the vehicle to a parking spot.


    Check-In

    Employer check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. in Richardson Ballroom. Event staff will direct employers to their tables upon arrival. Suggested items to bring:

    • Logoed tablecloth, posters and signage for table (6-foot table and standard garnet tablecloth will be provided)
    • Brochures/flyers/business cards 
    • QR code to job postings/instructions on how to apply (employers are encouraged to post their positions in Handshake prior to the event)
    • Promotional items/swag

    On-Site Interviews

    On-site interviews will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Richardson Ballroom. Employers staying for afternoon interviews should post their positions in Handshake to identify candidates and coordinate interview times in advance (students and alumni will be encouraged to apply for positions in Handshake). On-the-spot interview offers may also be made during the fair.
