Meet the Firms

September 10, 2024

Time: 10:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
Location: McBryde Hall, 695 Scholar's Walk

Meet the Firms is a job fair for accounting, finance, economics, and computer information students and recent graduates. This is a time for students to learn about different career paths and internship opportunities with various organizations. Participants include CPA firms, wealth management firms, banks, government agencies, and relevant corporate departments (e.g., internal audit, accounting, tax, and finance).

Meet the Firms is hosted by the College of Business & Technology’s Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors society for accounting, finance, and information systems students, and supported by the Center for Career Development & Internships

Register via Handshake by August 31 to guarantee you will have a nametag for the event. Current students, use your Winthrop credentials to log into Handshake. Alumni, follow these instructions to access Handshake. Contact if you encounter any Handshake issues.

Registration is not required, but it will allow you to see a list of participating organizations. Use the list of participating organizations and the following guides to help you prepare for Meet the Firms.

Some organizations will request a resume, so please bring at least five copies of your resume. Consider bringing more depending on how many booths you plan on visiting. Need help with your resume? You can schedule an appointment with Winthrop's Center for Career Development & Internships to get one-on-one help with your resume.

The dress code is business professional or business casual. Not sure you own anything that fits the dress code? The CBT has a professional clothes closet that you can use to create an appropriate outfit. Please visit Student Services (open 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.) at Thurmond 226 to use this resource.

Register here by August 12 to secure a booth. The registration fee includes lunch for three representatives and is $100. Additional lunch tickets can be purchased for $25 each. Space is limited to 40 booths, and registration fees are non-refundable after August 25, 2024. To cancel a reservation or if you need to pay with a check, please e-mail Dr. Hannah Richards at

During August, your primary contact will be asked to provide attendee names and dietary restrictions. We will also ask about the positions for which you are recruiting and the types of students with whom you are interested in networking to help students prepare for the event.

Meet the Firms is a fundraiser for Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors society for financial information students and professionals. Please consider making an additional donation when registering.

    Location and Time

We will be in McBryde Hall on Winthrop’s campus. You can start setting up your booth at 10 a.m., and refreshments will be available during the setup time. Students will begin arriving at 10:30 a.m. Following Meet the Firms, your firm representatives may join faculty and Beta Alpha Psi students for a luncheon from 12:30–1:30 p.m. in Tuttle Hall, an adjoining room of McBryde Hall.

Each registration includes one booth: a six-foot table with a garnet tablecloth. Firms may pick their booth location on a first-come basis. Please bring firm signage for your booth. If you wish to bring firm swag, plan for 175 students.

On the Winthrop parking map (pdf - 809kb), McBryde Hall is building 15. Please park in lot G (Margaret Nance) or the green visitor parking spaces between buildings 14 and 15. You can use lot E (Johnson) if these lots fill up. Parking passes are not needed for these designated areas.

Visitor spaces can be used if you will be on campus after 2 p.m. or the Johnson parking lot is full. However, you must submit a visitor parking permit request. Visitor spaces are marked green in person and on the map.

    Job Postings and Interviews

We recommend that firms post job openings to Handshake. You can set up an Employer Handshake account here. If you want to arrange on-campus interviews, please contact Michael Szeman (CDI Associate Director) at
