Welcome to Advising at Winthrop!

Whether you are beginning your college journey as a first-year student, transferring to Winthrop, or exploring your academic options, advisors are here to support you every step of the way.

College is an exciting time filled with opportunities, decisions, and new experiences. The goal of advising at Winthrop is to help you navigate your academic journey with confidence by providing personalized guidance, connecting you with campus resources, and empowering you to make informed decisions about your education and future.

At Winthrop, academic advising is more than selecting classes. It is a collaborative partnership focused on helping you achieve your academic goals. Additionally, we encourage you to ask questions, explore your interests, and take advantage of the many resources available to help you succeed.

We are excited to be part of your academic journey at Winthrop and look forward to working with you.

Winthrop's Shared Advising Model

Winthrop University uses a shared advising model designed to provide students with coordinated, personalized support throughout their academic journey.

During the first years of enrollment, professional advisors partner with students to assist with academic planning, course selection, university policies, campus resources, and the transition to college. As students progress in their academic journey, faculty advisors provide discipline-specific mentoring and support related to majors and professional pathways.

By combining the expertise of professional advisors and faculty advisors, students receive comprehensive support throughout their time at Winthrop. Advising is a shared responsibility and a shared commitment. While your advisor may change as you progress through your academic journey, our goal is to ensure you experience consistent, connected support from Winthrop’s advising community.

Together, we are committed to helping you thrive academically on campus from your first semester through graduation.
