Dear Students,
As we approach the midpoint of the semester, I applaud your continued perseverance in achieving your academic and co-curricular goals during this unusual and challenging time. I know it has been financially tough for many of you and for your families, and I do have some good news to share in that regard.
I am pleased to let you know that Winthrop has been awarded additional federal emergency relief funding due to the pandemic. We have received $2,691,065 through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) to be distributed to students who have had expenses related to the pandemic or have financial need this spring.
Students who wish to apply for this funding need to complete an application. Deadline to submit application is March 11, 2021, by 11:59 p.m. Late applications will be not accepted, so please act on this quickly.
Based on guidance from the federal Department of Education, applicants must be currently attending Winthrop for spring 2021; U.S. citizens or permanent non-residents; and degree-seeking(including Winthrop Think College, Dietetic Internship and Counseling Certificate students). Unlike the prior CARES funding, this CRRSAA funding is available to students in the 100% online graduate programs as well.
Funding amounts per student will depend on the number of applications, and Winthrop does plan to determine amounts based on a student’s status asPell-eligible or non-Pell eligible. We anticipate that funding will be distributed to recipients by early April.
We know students and families continue to be impacted by the pandemic and sincerely hope this funding will help lessen some of your current financial stress.
If you have questions about the application process, please contact the Office Financial Aid at finaid@winthrop.edu.
Sincerely,
George
