Faculty and Staff - October 26, 2020

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to remind you of the next virtual town hall in our series, Diversity Dialogues; the event will be Tuesday, October 27, at 3 p.m. I hope you will be able to attend this timely session on free speech versus hate speech. You may recall that at a recent Board of Trustees meeting, the board voted on a speech-related resolution that you may reference here: Resolution Affirming Free Speech at Winthrop University.

Our moderator for this event will be Chisa Putman ‘03, senior solicitor for the City of Rock Hill. The panel will include Anthony Davis, interim dean of students; Scott Huffmon, professor and director of the Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research; Guy Reel, professor and chair of the Department of Mass Communication; and Karen Stock, professor of fine arts.

You may access the event via Zoom using this link.  I appreciate the work of the Diversity Council on events like this one, and I am pleased that we offer safe spaces for open dialogue for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and administrators on issues that impact us as a campus community.

Sincerely,

George
