Faculty and Staff - October 6, 2026

For generations, Winthrop has been deeply connected to the community we call home. One of the ways that commitment comes to life is through our longstanding partnership with United Way of York County.

Over the years, members of the Winthrop community have done much more than give. We have participated in conversations, shared expertise, helped guide community impact work and joined with others across York County to better understand and respond to the challenges facing our neighbors.

Today, nearly 1 in 3 York County households are ALICE® — Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are neighbors who are working yet still struggle to afford the basics their families need.

United Way is working alongside community partners like Winthrop to change that through financial literacy, workforce development, and economic and family support. Together, we are helping neighbors overcome immediate barriers while building greater financial stability for the future.

As we begin this year’s Winthrop United Way Campaign, I invite you to learn more about this work and consider how you might be part of it. When each of us contributes what we can, our collective impact reaches far beyond our campus.
