Faculty and Staff - February 25, 2021

Dear Colleagues:

As you know, last year Winthrop established an Ombuds Office based on feedback that grew out of a spring 2018 employee satisfaction survey, and Jackie Concodora, director of Center for Student Wellness, was selected to serve as the university’s ombuds.

In short, the office provides an independent, confidential environment for faculty and staff to discuss campus-related concerns or problems. Because the office and the position are still fairly new to Winthrop, I wanted to share with you an attached flyer and brochure that provide a comprehensive look at the office’s offerings, the role of an ombuds and much more. Hard copies of the Ombuds Office flyer and brochure will be distributed to campus departments over the next couple of weeks.

If you would like to utilize these services at any point, please note that during these times of COVID-19, the Ombuds Office is providing remote services by appointment only via phone or secure Zoom. To schedule an appointment, please call 803/323-6076 and leave a message. You may also e-mail your contact information to ombuds@winthrop.edu, and you will receive a return message. I would like to remind you that e-mail is not secure, so please refrain from including details about the reason for your meeting request.

The Ombuds Office will continue to be an integral resource for our employees, and once again, I appreciate Jackie for serving in this important role.

Sincerely,

George
