New Hire Onboarding - FT

Welcome to the Winthrop University Family. We are excited that you are joining the University.
For your convenience, Winthrop University utilizes an online onboarding system to deliver onboarding tasks to new employees, which allows you to complete most of your new hire documentation prior to your first day on campus. Additionally, the system will help you manage your tasks easily.
Through an interactive experience, the onboarding checklist(s) include a range of tasks from
requesting critical employment data, reading key policies, enrolling in state insurance and
retirement benefits, and completing federal forms as listed below.

Task Description
W-4 Complete the federal tax form (Form W-4) so that Winthrop can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. If no response is received for federal withholdings, defaults may be set accordingly. Once you have completed the form please select “save”.
SC W-4 Complete South Carolina’s W-4 so that Winthrop can withhold the correct state income tax from your pay. If no response is received for state withholdings, defaults may be set accordingly.
If you work remotely, and do not come to a campus in South Carolina, then you must submit the W-4 for the state where you reside and perform the work.
Direct Deposit All employees are required to have their payroll amount direct deposited into the bank account(s) of their choice. You will need to obtain a Winthrop user account to access Wingspan. Login to Wingspan then select the Employee Dashboard link, select the link for Direct Deposit Information. Proceed to set up banking information in the Pay Distribution section. You will need your bank account and routing number to complete the setup. Additional instructions can be found on the Payroll web page at https://www.winthrop.edu/payroll/what-is-it.aspx.
Once you have completed the setup please select “save final” in PeopleAdmin.
New Hire Information Sheet This e-form will electronically collect personal data and state retiree status. This form will also verify other information such as address and education. It will be electronically forwarded to an HR Representative for approval.
Parking Permit Winthrop University requires a parking permit for motor vehicles parked on campus. Each motor vehicle must be registered with the Winthrop University Police Department to park on campus and avoid receiving a ticket. Use the provided instructions to register online up to two vehicles for $30. You will need to provide identification specific to your vehicle regarding the make, model, color, and license plate state/number.
E-mail Account All employees must fill out a Faculty/Staff Account Request Form – in order to start a Winthrop University e-mail account. You will need to have your Winthrop ID number & Mother’s Maiden Name in order to fill out this form. Once you select save final, complete your signature and submit this e-form, the request is routed to the IT department for action. If you already have an account, supply your existing WU e-mail account in the Mother's Maiden Name field.
