After receiving undergraduate degree in biology, Dr. Wozniak worked with heat shock
effects in HeLa cells on her master's degree dissertation. After earning a Ph.D. from
the University of Campinas in So Paulo, Brazil, working on Hemoglobinopathies, Wozniak
became a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Neurology at New York University,
where she worked with lysosomal storage diseases diagnosis. A year later she moved
to the Department of Human Genetics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York
to work on the development of therapy for Niemann-Pick disease. Wozniak joined Winthrop
in 2000. She has taught BIO 101, BIO 150, BIO 151, BIO 203, and BIO 308 since then.
Wozniak is married and has two daughters.
