Ms. Tolson received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, followed by a successful career in sales. She later took a leave from the workforce to be home with her children. In 1996 Ms. Tolson returned to school to attain her Secondary Teacher's Certification in mathematics. Since then, she has earned her Master’s in Math Education and National Board Certification. Ms. Tolson has served on state curriculum committees, has presented at NCTM and Texas Instrument conferences, and has chaired district curriculum committees. Ms. Tolson is passionate about teaching mathematics and places great importance on being a life-long learner. Ms. Tolson has been an adjunct instructor for Winthrop since 2011. She taught all math topics, from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus BC for over 20 years and retired from full-time teaching in 2017. Ms. Tolson continues her love of math through continuing to teach at Winthrop part-time and helping students who struggle with math. She is a workout enthusiast, loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, and loves her Starbuck’s coffee!
