Checking Out of Your Residence Hall

Resident Assistants will be hosting mandatory floor meetings to review the expectations for residents regarding their residence hall check out. You are expected to clean your room and bathroom (where applicable) and dispose of trash to the dumpster outside your residence hall. You are also encouraged to submit a work request at the hall office for any damages or repairs that need to occur. Empty, defrost your MicroFridge, and clean up standing water (condensation). Leave the doors ajar for ventilation.

Before you depart, you will need to return your room key. Failure to return your room key will result in a key recore charge applied to your Winthrop account.

Returning Your Room Key by Mail

If you have already returned home for the semester and have not returning your room key, please follow the instructions below to mail your key back to campus.

  • Tape your key to a piece of paper with your name, Winthrop ID and Residence Hall. Do not put a loose key in the envelope as it may be lost in transit.
  • It is recommended to use a padded envelope or a Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope which is trackable via US Postal Service. Send your key to:

    Residence Life Office
    237 DiGiorgio Campus Center
    Rock Hill, SC 29733

  • E-mail your RLC/RHC/RD that you are mailing your key back and the date you have mailed it.

Failure to return your key by Monday, December 19, 2022 will result in a recore of your door, and you will be responsible for the charge associated with it.

Returning Your Textbooks

There are two ways for you to return rental textbooks to the bookstore.

  • Return in-store at the Campus Center: you may return books in person before the May 4th due date. Appropriate safety and social distancing measures will be implemented.
  • Return by mail: You may ship rental textbooks back to the bookstore via UPS before the May 4th due date. Find step-by-step instructions to purchase and print your shipping label on the bookstore’s website. Please note that you will need your order number to print the shipping label. This can be found in the rental return reminder e-mails, which start 21 days before the due date. If you do not see an e-mail, please e-mail and your order can be looked up in the system.
