Today, we begin an important initiative to strengthen Winthrop University for the future. Over the next several months, we will conduct a comprehensive Organizational Assessment to evaluate how we work, how we are structured, and how we can improve. For this initiative, we are working with CampusWorks, an external partner with experience in higher-ed organizational reviews.
Why now? Higher education is changing rapidly. Enrollment trends, technological demands, and economic pressures continue to shape how we operate. In response, it is critical that we take a thoughtful look at our organizational structure and day-to-day processes to ensure our work is efficient, our teams are aligned, and our resources are focused on what matters most: supporting our students and one another.
This assessment is intended to be collaborative and transparent. Over the coming months, we will examine how work gets done across the institution, identify opportunities to streamline processes, remove obstacles, and better align our efforts with Winthrop’s mission. Your insights are essential to this effort and will play a key role in shaping recommendations for the future. In the coming days, you will receive a survey and invitations to participate in forums and discussions, and I strongly encourage you to take part.
As an important first step in this engagement, we will host a Town Hall Meeting to provide a shared understanding of the Organizational Assessment and create space for open dialogue. The Town Hall is designed to ensure transparency from the outset, clarify what the assessment will, and will not, address, and give you an opportunity to hear directly from university leadership, the project committee, and our CampusWorks partners before broader engagement activities begin. Here are the details:
Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2026
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Dina’s Place
In the coming weeks, you will receive a survey and invitations to participate in discussions. I encourage you to take part because your voice is essential. We look forward to your participation and engagement.
This is a collaborative effort. Your insights will guide our understanding of what’s working well and where we can improve. Together we are committed to building a stronger, more sustainable institution. If you have any questions, please direct them to CampusWorks.
Thank you for your commitment to our shared mission.
