Faculty & Staff - August 4, 2021

Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that Joseph Miller will be joining the Winthrop community on Sept. 1 as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, replacing Eduardo Prieto who left for the University of Mississippi in March. As you know, we had three outstanding candidates on campus to interview for the VPEMM position, and all three had credentials that made this a very difficult decision.

In the final analysis, and based on the outstanding feedback we received from all of those who had an opportunity to meet the candidates, it was Joe’s depth of experience, knowledge of the challenges and opportunities we face at Winthrop, and his positive and enthusiastic approach to enrollment management and marketing that made him the top candidate. I have no doubt that Joe will make a significant contribution to the excellent leadership team we have at Winthrop University.

He comes to us from LaGrange College in Georgia where he has led the enrollment effort since 2012. He brings more than 18 years of strategic enrollment management, admissions, recruitment and marketing, and financial aid awarding and leveraging experience to Winthrop.

You can read more about Joe in the press release. He will be moving to Rock Hill soon, while wife Melissa and the couple's two boys, Jonah and Camp, remain in LaGrange for this school year. Daughter Anna Claire will be a freshman this fall at High Point University.

Please welcome Joe when you see him on campus in September.

With warm regards,

George
