The Information found on this page is intended to provide you with instructions to frequently asked questions regarding Blackboard Learn.

      Blackboard is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Winthrop University. LMS software provides instructors and students with a graphically-oriented, digital learning environment that makes the creation, distribution, and consumption of educational content simple and efficient.

      • Taking an Online Course? Use this checklist to get started:

      • Make sure you have a Winthrop email account set up. If you do not have a Winthrop email account, please go to 15 Tillman or set up a new student account online.
      • If you add an online course late, contact the instructor to notify them that you have added the course.
      • Review the system requirements and make the necessary updates to your personal computer. Blackboard will not function properly if your computer does not meet these requirements.
      • Review the "Deciding to Take an Online Course" section below if you are a student taking an online course for the first time.
      • Review the instructions below for logging into Blackboard.
      • Log in to Blackboard on the very first day that the course is scheduled to begin so that you can determine if there are any issues with your login. The web address to Blackboard is:
