Alex Tsiukes is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Winthrop University. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. from West Virginia University and his B.A. from Winthrop University.

His research focuses on the intersection of urban and transportation economics, using natural experiments and causal inference to evaluate the external costs of congestion. He has published work in Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice and the Eastern Economic Journal. His current work analyzes how high-frequency demand shocks, such as major sporting events, impact infrastructure performance and traveler behavior.

He has presented his research at the annual meetings of the Southern Economic Association and the Pennsylvania Economic Association. Additionally, he has served as a referee for Contemporary Economic Policy, Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, and the Pennsylvania Economic Review. Alex currently lives in Rock Hill with his wife, daughter, and their two cats.
