The West Forum sponsors an annual internship with a government agency or other political organization. The internship is available in spring semester, and it is open to all Winthrop University graduate and undergraduate students, regardless of field of study. Applications for the internships are available each fall semester. The West Forum intern receives a cash reward from the West Forum and may also receive academic credit for the internship.

Benjamin Byrd is a Political Science major with a minor in Marketing who is interested in pursuing a career in lobbying, particularly at the intersection of public policy, education, and environmental conservation. This semester, he is interning with the S.C. Representative Kambrell Garvin and the South Carolina Democratic Caucus.

Aniya is a Political Science major with a minor in Psychology. She has worked with the Winthrop LIFE program, as well as Winthrop's Finance Department. After graduating in the spring of 2027, Aniya plans to attend law school and obtain her Juris Doctorate. Aniya is interning at the York County Family Courts, under Judge David Guyton.

Taylor Noble is a senior Political Science major with a minor in Legal Studies. In her time at Winthrop she has participated in the Council of Student Leaders, NAACP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mu Xi Chapter, Honors College, and Winthrop University Model United Nations Program. She will be interning for the 16th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office as a West Forum intern. After graduation, she plans to pursue her Master's in Liberal Arts at Winthrop before attending law school to pursue her Juris Doctorate.
