  • Congratulations to our Winthrop University McNair Scholars! Eighteen Summer Scholars presented their research at the annual SAEOPP National McNair Research Symposium in June, with three Scholars receiving awards, including two $500 first-place awards in their categories. Way to go!
  • Fifty-four Winthrop students pursued research in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, mathematics, geology, and physics during the 2018 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE).
  • Ten students from Winthrop and York Tech were interns in the 2018 WISE (Winthrop Initiative for STEM Educators) Program.
  • Over 155 Winthrop undergraduates presented research or creative work at conferences during 2017-2018; at least 59 students won awards for their work. Great job!

Events and Deadlines

  • Friday, February 1, 2019, is the deadline to apply for undergraduate research travel funds for travel during the Spring 2019 semester. Please visit the Student Travel Funding page for more information.
  • The World of Food: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on What We Eat and Grow, Winthrop University's 2nd Interdisciplinary Conference, will take place February 21-23, 2019 in the Withers Building.
    The conference focuses on the growth, consumption, environmental impacts, art, politics, marketing, history, and economics of food worldwide. It is open to faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, activists, and community professionals. Conference registration and schedule are are available on the conference website.
