Professional Public Educator Rate

A standard educator tuition rate (30% less than the current tuition rate) was approved by the Winthrop Board of Trustees in December 2024. The University determined that this tuition rate is available to individuals working in the PK12 sector enrolled full-time or part-time in Master's/Specialist graduate degrees, or Postbaccalaureate endorsement or certification programs. This tuition rate is available for students admitted to start an eligible program in Summer 2025 or after.

Prospective students who work in the PK12 sector should request further details about this policy from the Winthrop University Graduate Studies Office at 803/323-2204 or gradstudies@winthrop.edu.

How to Request this Tuition Rate

In order to qualify for this tuition rate, students will provide evidence of work in the PK12 public school sector.

Preferred evidence is a copy of a valid educator certification. For PK12 public school employees that do not hold educator certification, a contract or letter on school/district letterhead with the signature of a principal or district level official stating your full name and role will be accepted.

For Fall 2025, newly admitted students will need to complete the PK12 Tuition Rate Request Form to upload your evidence. We will only accept these forms through the first week of classes. Earlier action is appreciated. For students starting a program in any following terms, contact the Winthrop University Graduate Studies Office at 803/323-2204 or gradstudies@winthrop.edu.
