Accessing Your 1098-T Form (Vangent TRA)

We have provided detailed information at the end of your tax form to assist you in determining your tax benefit. The 1098-T form includes all tuition and fees charged as well as grants and scholarships credited to your account between January 1 and Dec 31 or the tax year you are viewing. The detail provided also includes payments made and recorded on your account between January 1 and Dec 31 of the tax year you are viewing.

Please note: If you registered for the spring term of the next tax year before December 31 of the tax year you are viewing, your tuition and fee charges for the spring term also are included.

Instructions on how to access the 1098-T form are summarized below:

Students who have accessed Vangent TRA in the past:

If you have accessed the 1098-T information via the Vangent TRA website previously, your user name and password are still valid. If you do not remember your user name and/or password, please click on the "forgot your password" or "forgot your user ID" links. If you do not remember either one, please select the "forgot your user ID" option first — you will be asked to provide your e-mail address and answer a security question. Then click on the "forgot your password" link. A temporary password will be sent to you.

  1. Log-in: https://tra.maximus.com/
Fill in the User ID and Password that you set up when you were a first time user.
  2. After you log in, you will have three "options."

a. You can change your 1098-T data (this allows you to update your address, but you will not be able to update any other information).

b. You can request a replacement copy of your 1098-T by mail (please only use this option if you do not wish to download your form).

c. You can view/print the 1098-T for your records.

Students who are First Time users:

If this is the first time you are accessing your information on-line, you will need to register with Vangent.

  1. Click on the "First Time Students" link to set up your account. You will be asked to provide your first and last name — then you must provide either your campus ID number (when providing your campus ID number, you must put a leading capital "W" in front of your number — i.e., W12345678). You may also use the last 5 digits of your social security number instead of your Winthrop ID number to set up your new account.
  2. Select a user name. Once that is complete, you will receive an e-mail from TRA Customer Service with a temporary password and a link to complete the setup of your account. Please allow about 1-2 minutes after you receive your temporary password before you try to log in to allow their system to synchronize.
  3. Set up a security question and select a new password. Once that is done, you will be directed to the log-in page where you will need to enter your username and new password.
  4. Log-in: https://tra.maximus.com/
Fill in the User ID and Password that you set up when you were a first time user.
