Course Schedule Protection & Cancelation

Regarding the Fee Payment Deadline

You qualify for financial aid and your accepted financial aid is equal to or greater than your fees.

    • In this case, schedule protection is automatic and is a courtesy that will allow time for approved financial aid funds to be disbursed to your account.

If you have no financial aid or your accepted financial aid is less than your fees:

    • You must pay the balance due on your account -OR- enroll in a payment plan and make the required first payment before the published payment due date to protect your schedule from cancellation for non-payment.

NOTE: Protecting your schedule is not a guarantee of funds and does not relieve you of the obligation to pay.

    • You must complete all required steps for completion and disbursement of their financial aid.
    • If you do not complete the financial aid process, you are found to be ineligible for financial aid, or you incur charges after the deadline that are in excess of your financial aid, you will be responsible for paying the full account balance by the next published payment due date.

Winthrop University reserves the right to cancel student registrations for all courses unless the student has made satisfactory payment arrangements by the established deadline.

    • We will use the students' Winthrop University e-mail address to notify students they may lose their class schedule.

    • Cancellation occurs to allow University advisors and other students to know which classes are available to new or transferring students.

    • To ensure you receive timely notices from our office, it is imperative that you establish a Winthrop University e-mail account and monitor it regularly.

Check your Schedule Protection Status

After semester fees have been applied, you may confirm the protection status of your course schedule in WINGSPAN through the Academics tab. Locate the Schedule Status card. This will let you know whether or not your schedule has been protected from cancelation. All student schedules will show as unprotected for upcoming semesters until the associated semester fees have been applied to accounts and your payment is in place for the balance.

Registration after Add/Drop

Students who wish to enroll in classes or re-register for classes after the final fee payment deadline, must submit a Schedule Change Form and be prepared to pay toward their student account
