Payment Methods 


 

PLEASE NOTE:

Billing statements are sent only to the student's Winthrop email.

Students are advised to share this information with 3rd party payers such as parents or grandparents.

 

    Payment Plans are offered by Winthrop before the semester begins and usually up to the Fee Payment Deadline

    • Electronic checks allow you to pay by personal check online and receive immediate credit for your payment

    • Money market accounts and cashier checks cannot be processed using the E-check payment option

      • Cashiers Office also accepts check payments by mail as well as cash or check payments in person - see "Check or Money Order" below

      • For your added security, credit card information is not accepted at the Cashiers teller windows, via telephone, or mail
      • Credit card payments must be completed online through the Account Portal in Wingspan or via Authorized User login 
    • Why the 3% fee? Credit card companies allow the University to recover the direct costs incurred to provide internet payment capabilities. The rate is based on an estimate of those direct costs. At this percentage rate, the University will continue to pay for a portion of the cost of accepting credit cards.

    Security is enhanced as no written information regarding credit card or bank information will be handled or filed. Winthrop personnel will not have access to credit card numbers. 

    For your privacy and security, credit card information will not be accepted through the mail or by telephone. All credit card transactions must be handled through the Account Portal in WINGSPAN or through Authorized User login. Security is enhanced because no written information regarding credit card or bank information will be handled or filed. Winthrop University personnel will not have access to credit card numbers.

    The funds collected will be used to defray a portion of the cost of providing convenient electronic payment options for those who wish to pay via credit card. This will benefit the University and all of its students by allowing the University to allocate those savings to instructional purposes.

    Winthrop will continue to accept cash and check payments at the teller windows in the Cashiers Office as well as check payments received in the mail. Please be sure to include the student's Winthrop ID number with your payment.

    In addition, you may want to consider setting up a checking account for your student in your area — you could then deposit funds into the student's checking account and have the student make payments by check at the teller windows in the Cashiers Office.
