Security is enhanced as no written information regarding credit card or bank information will be handled or filed. Winthrop personnel will not have access to credit card numbers.
For your privacy and security, credit card information will not be accepted through the mail or by telephone. All credit card transactions must be handled through the Account Portal in WINGSPAN or through Authorized User login. The funds collected will be used to defray a portion of the cost of providing convenient electronic payment options for those who wish to pay via credit card. This will benefit the University and all of its students by allowing the University to allocate those savings to instructional purposes.
Winthrop will continue to accept cash and check payments at the teller windows in the Cashiers Office as well as check payments received in the mail. Please be sure to include the student's Winthrop ID number with your payment.
In addition, you may want to consider setting up a checking account for your student in your area — you could then deposit funds into the student's checking account and have the student make payments by check at the teller windows in the Cashiers Office.
