Purpose

The purpose of the Call Me MISTER program at Winthrop University is to assist with the recruitment, training, and certification of students who are planning to teach in South Carolina's public schools. The program seeks to help build a group of educators by providing academic, social, and financial support to individuals interested in the field of education. Call Me MISTER is open to ALL aspiring teachers, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender. 

The term MISTER is an acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models and is primarily a mentorship-centered program where students will be mentored into effective leaders and will become mentors themselves to their students.
