Padmini Patwardhan is professor of mass communication and IMC program coordinator. She joined the faculty in 2005. She has extensive professional experience as creative and consultant and teaches courses in IMC, advertising, public relations, and communication theory & research.

Padmini's current research focuses on leadership issues in advertising and public relations. She is widely published in leading journals, has earned conference recognitions (AEJMC, AJHA and NCA, among others) and received multiple research grants (e.g. Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, National Association of Broadcasters, South Asian Journalists' Association, Winthrop Research Council) and fellowships (Temerlin Advertising Institute, American Academy of Advertising).

She is recipient of the 2017 Charles H. Sandage Teaching Excellence Award (American Academy of Advertising) and the 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award (Advertising Division, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication). Other honors include the 2016 Scholarship Excellence Award (College of Arts & Sciences), 2011 Thompson Scholar (Winthrop University) and 2006 Visiting Professor Fellow (Advertising Educational Foundation).

Padmini works closely with professional associations and serves on journal editorial boards. She was elected to the Executive Committees of the American Academy of Advertising and Advertising Division of AEJMC, completing both terms recently.

She is married to Hemant Patwardhan, professor of management and marketing at Winthrop. The couple has two children.
