Dr. Click has been president of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication and Kappa Tau Alpha, the national journalism and mass communication honor society. He was a member of the Screening Committee of the National Magazine Awards in New York City four years and managing editor of Journalism Quarterly, the research journal in journalism and mass communication, for nine years. In the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Magazine Division presented him its Magazine Educator of the Year Award and the Scholastic Journalism Division presented him its Honors Lecturer Award.

He was a member of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications nine years, representing ASJMC. He is a member of the Journalism Hall of Fame at both Ball State University and Central Michigan University and in College Media Advisers. He has been listed in Who's Who in Media and Communications and Who's Who in America. He is senior author of Magazine Editing and Production.

Prior to joining the Winthrop faculty, Click was director of the Manship School of Journalism at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., and previously taught journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich. He was director of public relations at Findlay (Ohio) College. Click worked as a reporter for Fairchild Publications in Chicago and in public relations at Motorola Inc. in suburban Chicago.
