Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival 2025

Join us for The Harvest Festival, an exploration of the social and cultural dimensions of sustainable food systems and the ways food shapes communities, identities, and futures. This three-hour event brings together experts from Environmental Studies, Human Nutrition, Sustainability, and Meteorology to investigate how food connects us to land, climate, and culture—and to highlight pathways toward more resilient and equitable societies.

Held in the Winthrop University Educational Community Garden, the Festival transforms the garden into a living classroom where teaching, research, and cultivation converge. Participants will move through a series of interactive stations focused on composting, climate science, nutrition, and the cultural histories of plants. Along the way, they’ll engage with questions about climate change, health, heritage, and justice.

The Harvest Festival is not just a celebration of the season—it’s an invitation to think deeply about how communities cultivate resilience and meaning through the food they grow, share, and sustain. Come ready to learn, taste, and connect!
