Welcome. If you're interested in environmental issues from almost any angle, we definitely
have something to offer you. The environmental program at Winthrop University is housed
in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and the Environment. We have two majors: a BA in Environmental Studies and a BS in Environmental Sciences. Additionally, we offer a minor in Sustainability.
The environmental program is led by the Dalton Endowed Chair in Environmental Sciences
and Studies and works closely with the Environmental Program Coordinating Committee.
This committee is composed of six faculty members who work in or teach about environmental
issues. They help design and oversee curricula that are challenging and intellectually
stimulating, assist with student advising and assessment and help plan and carry out
campus events and activities related to environmental themes.
Thank you for your interest in the environmental program at Winthrop University. If
