Parent Resources

Using VA benefits for the first time at a new school can be challenging. Whether you are the parent of a transfer or a first-time college student receiving dependent VA education benefits, the following resources can give you a general overview of the process and what to expect during the first semester at Winthrop. While the goal is for students to take full responsibility for their benefit, learning how the VA benefits process works can take a semester or two while they are adjusting to a new academic and social culture. Parents and VA benefits can partner to support and encourage their new students using dependent VA benefits for the first time.
