Program Eligibility

Students attending Winthrop University may be eligible for participation in the TRiO Achievers Program if they meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled or accepted for the next academic semester
  • Have a demonstrated need for academic support
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

Students also must meet one or more of the following Federal eligibility guidelines:

Admission into Winthrop's TRiO Achievers Program is highly competitive, as there are a limited number of openings each year. It is suggested that you attend one of the TRiO Open House sessions held during each Orientation Program in June.

Students accepted for the TRiO Achievers Program will be required to attend TRiO CONNECT, a two-day early orientation program. Students must be able to move into their residence hall on the Wednesday prior to Welcome Week. No exceptions will be made.
