Kim Brazzell - Instructional Technologist

Kim has been employed at Winthrop for 15 years, after working part-time with the Office of Online Learning, Kim joined the office full-time in 2014. She completed her B.A. in Social Science with Education Concentration and graduated from Ashford University. Kim is an Online Learning Instructional Technologist with the department, providing support and training to both faculty and students.
Lee Clark - Online Learning Technician

Lee has worked in instructional roles in public K-12 schools, as well as administrative and instructional roles in higher education. She spent two and a half years as the Administrative Assistant in the Social Work Department at Winthrop University prior to joining the Winthrop Office of Online Learning in January of 2020. She is currently working on a Winthrop Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology. She also has a Masters in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, as well as a Masters in Political Science and Bachelors in International Relations from Syracuse University. Lee is an Online Learning Technician in the department, providing technical support for the Blackboard LMS and related applications to both faculty and students.
Thomas Cornelius - Instructional Designer

Thomas joined the Winthrop Office of Online Learning in 2016. He completed his B.A. in English with a concentration in Literature and Language and graduated from Winthrop in 2011, and returned to Winthrop in 2013 to pursue his Master of Education in Educational Technology. While working on his MEd, he served as Graduate Associate in the Instructional Technology Center in the College of Education. As a recent graduate, he strives to offer a dose of student perspective while offering advice and direction for online coursework.

Jane joined the Office of Online Learning in 2019. She received an A.S in Computer Systems from York College, PA. Jane provides tier 2 technical support for Blackboard Learn and support for the University’s other Blackboard products.
Belle Gironda - Senior Instructional Designer

Belle Gironda has been interested in creative and effective applications of instructional technology since the beginning of her academic career. She has worked in a variety of roles in teaching and learning centers including as senior instructional designer and faculty development specialist at Adelphi University and as the Director of the CETL at Queensborough Community College, City University of New York, where she was also a faculty member. She taught writing at the American University in Cairo for and is a published poet and critic. Belle has a PhD in English from the State University of New York at Albany. Her research focused on how writers reconceptualized writing in relationship to the development of photography in the 19th century, film in the early 20th century and digital media in the late 20th century.
Kimarie Whetstone - Director of Online Learning

Kimarie earned her PhD in Education online through Capella University. Her specialization is Instructional Design for Online Learning. Kimarie's experience in higher education is in the areas of online learning; instructional design; training; student services; academic advising; and teaching courses in educational technology, management information systems, and computer applications. Her areas of interest include accessibility in online learning, universal design for learning, instructional design for online learning, online learning in higher education, and instructional technology. In her spare time, Kimarie enjoys mentoring, volunteering with church activities, and spending time with family.
