Winthrop University: Campus Master Plan - Engagement

Campus Master Plan

Engagement

This phase of our collaborative work is complete!

We are pleased to say that the Campus Master Plan survey in November provided approximately 1,400 responses to our partners. Thank you to the faculty, staff, students, alumni and others who cared enough about Winthrop and its future to complete the survey!

We had a good turnout for the informal open house on the Community Concourse that was held on Tuesday, September 28. See photos from the open house.

Representatives from the planning team were there to:

  • Share details about the planning process and opportunities for involvement
  • Hear about individuals' experiences on campus, including their thoughts on the heart of campus and what would make the campus more welcoming
  • Talk about ideas for the future and explore questions like, "If you could make one big change on campus, what would it be?"

Focus groups (virtual meetings over Zoom) this fall included an invited mix of 10-15 students, faculty and staff with diverse perspectives about specific topics. Our focus groups included:

  • Campus Grounds (Landscape, Open Space, Transportation, Parking)
  • Student Experience
  • Wellness
  • Residence Halls - Students Living On Campus
  • Residence Halls - Students Living Off Campus
  • Resident Advisors and other Res Hall Staff

Sustainability, Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion also were addressed in focus group sessions.
