What makes the Close Scholars Program special to you?
The Close Scholars Program is special to me because of the relationships and joy that it has brought me throughout my time at Winthrop. I have always had a passion for giving back; however, this program really pushes us to get active in the Rock Hill community. This has allowed me to reach so many families and students, and I know that my fellow Scholars are doing the same: this is what makes the Close Scholars Program so special!
What do you love about the Close Scholars Program?
I love building bonds and sharing a passion for service with my fellow Close Scholars!
Why should incoming first-year students apply to the Close Scholars Program?
Incoming first-year students should apply to this program because it is an excellent way to learn the community while giving back at the same time. We are also representing a strong team of leaders and this program is an honor to be apart of.
As a servant leader, what advice do you have for Winthrop students in general?
There is always an opportunity to give back: find something that you enjoy. My passions are education and children, which is how I give back to my community. You will never find a greater feeling than knowing that you have impacted someone else's life just from giving a little bit of your time.
What has been your favorite community service experience and why?
My favorite community service experience has been mentoring and tutoring underprivileged students through an after-school program. This was so rewarding to see the smile on students' faces and seeing them grow and excel in not only academics but as individuals.
Fun Fact :-)
I danced for 14 years before coming to college!
